CRAZY WOMAN IN A PARKING LOT Back To Top
Everyday scene at the shopping center, the sun was hot that day
Cars cramming in the little parking lot, people trying to find their way
Not a thing was unusual when I turned off my car
But it all went south in a single second -- I didn’t get very far

I found myself face to face with a crazy woman in a parking lot
Her face was red, man she was hot, thought she was putting me on the spot
Crazy woman in a parking lot, crazy woman in a parking lot

She accused me of whacking her door, I was pretty sure I didn’t
I apologized and tried to be nice, she laid out abuse in a torrent
She apparently needed to vent, and she did it through her nose
She must have been a type A, or an A plus I suppose

There I was, face to face with a crazy woman in a parking lot
She always wanted to be a big shot, but unfortunately she was not
Crazy woman in a parking lot, crazy woman in a parking lot

I wanted to tell her that I do not ding, my car doors are made of plastic
It’s a beautiful day and don’t be mad, don’t do anything drastic
But she was in a huff and slammed her door before I could even speak
Her last words full of righteous fury, “You people!” she shrieked
I said, “I will tell my people to leave you and your car alone.”
She was a crazy woman in a parking lot
Crazy woman in a parking lot

RIGHTEOUS AT THE STOPLIGHT Back To Top
He was hurrying down the street, not much time to kill
Missed the turnoff to the new road but he was happy still
He could have paid a private company for getting there on time
He’d rather hang out here and be like me cause I’m
Righteous, righteous at the stoplight, righteous, righteous on the corner
Could have got there sooner but we love feeling

Righteous, righteous at the stop sign, righteous
She was turning around, turning fast, she went the wrong way again
She knew there were lots of ways to make a profit off of sin
But she couldn’t understand who was getting paid
For that long thing we used to call a freeway
Chorus
Bridge:
It’s windy up high, it scares us in the rain
It’s impossible with ice, our quarters go off to Spain
But flying along at 75 versus bumper to bumper on Braker Lane
Some days I’d rather get there sooner but still I love it when I’m
Chorus

I HAD NO NAME Back To Top
I went through the desert in a Ford Mustang
I went through the desert with a man named Bart Lee Wang
We drove through Jeff Davis County
Saw a poster with a face and a bounty
But I had no name, I had no name...No name...No name
Steep rocky canyons along the Rio Grande
TV show contestant millionaire named Dan
Hotel room at the Alpine Inn
Cast of Italians from New Jersey shining in
But I had no name, I had no name...No name...No name
Birds of all colors scaled quail and summer tanager
"Hi, I'm Steve" on the chest of the manager
I let Bart drive and he took me to Marfa
We ate barbeque at a place called Barbara's
But I had no name, I had no name...No name...No name
Experimental windmills unknown to Texas Utilities
Trying not to wallow in my own damned futility
A flat-topped mesa a hundred miles from nowhere
It was called something because I saw the sign there
But I had no name, I had no name...No name...No name

CHANGE IN TERMS Back To Top
What's on the table here is not to her liking
It's a like a brick wall, on which her head is striking
She's weary of the struggle, it's hardly worth it anymore
She's weighing her options, she might be headed out the door
Chorus:
It's nothing but a change in terms
When she'd rather have it her own way
Nothing more than a change in terms
She's gonna walk away, walk away
You never knew how good you had it; you'll miss her when she's gone,
Faster than a speeding bullet, she can leap tall buildings in a single bound
But you took her for granted, and she is not gonna be around
She was dancing to your tune, but now she's heard a different sound
Chorus: When she doesn't want to stay anyway
She'd rather not stay, she's gonna walk away, walk away
Bridge: Walk away to a new life, with a fresh insight
She's a new woman now, you don't get it anyhow
She always stood by you, those times when you were led astray
She steadied you for years, she even let you have your say
But you had to let her go, when she was your wise guru
You'll have to live without her, you don't even have a clue
Chorus: When she'd rather have it her own way
She can't hardly wait another day
She doesn't want to stay, she's gonna walk away, walk away

TAKE YOUR CLOTHES OFF Back To Top
I am waiting here for you, I can hardly sit still
I am thinking all about you, come to me let me drink my fill
Chorus: Take your clothes off, come here to me
Take your clothes off, be the man I know you can be
I might have considered the different forms of love
But why bother with all that when I fit you like a glove
Take your clothes off, because I said to
Take your clothes off, do the things I want you to do
I don't care where you came from, I don't care where you're going to
I don't care if you don't call me, I just have a job for you
Take my clothes off, put your lips on me
Take my clothes off, carry me to where I long to be

LESBIAN FROM LAREDO Back To Top
Chorus #1: She was a lesbian from Laredo
And I liked her style
She was a lesbian from Laredo
She had a smile as wide as a mile
She was a lesbian from Laredo
She sat down beside me, her wit soon satisfied me
She had a great big way about her; I would never have cause to doubt her
Chorus #2: Because she was a lesbian from Laredo
Brown eyes big as moon pies
She was a lesbian from Laredo
I couldn't tell her any lies
She was a lesbian from Laredo
She was wearing a leather vest; my crossword puzzle caught her interest
She didn't really want to marry me, she just wanted to tell me
That she was a lesbian from Laredo -- Chorus
She came up from the border, Practically made to order
Her black hair softly curlin', she set my world a-whirlin'
I wish I could have liked her that way, but I could not, that's all I can say
‘Cause I'm not gay
Chorus #1 and #2

WHO CARES WHAT YOU THINK Back To Top
Standing in a line, waiting to see the man
I took my little turn just to touch his hand.
When he stopped before me, I told him exactly what I thought
His mouth got hard around the edges; his voice was overwrought
Chorus: He said -- Who cares what you think -- With an evil gleam in his eye
Who cares what you think --You're less to me than a fly
Who cares what you think
I listened to what he said and I wrote it down
Knowing how it would look, he began to frown
They tried to stop me but I beat it out of there
Got clean away and spread it everywhere
He said --Who cares what you think -- Got a mean streak ten miles wide
Who cares what you think --I'll report you to the FBI
Who cares what you think
Bridge: It might be nice to hear competing thoughts
By considering carefully, we can learn a lot
Facts should trump fantasy, truth is better than fallacy
Reality is plain to see-- it's not cheap, it's free
Chorus: Who cares what you think -- Never worked a day in his life,
It's my way or die, You don't need to know why, Smiling thru the lie...

SHARON KILLER Back To Top
When Sharon was a little girl, she dreamed of girlish things
She wanted romance and a baby, a big fat diamond ring
But Sharon was too smart to get an MRS degree
She aced out college, kept right on till she reached her apogee
Chorus: Now Sharon is a killer, a really lethal killer
Retribution is her middle name
Now Sharon is a killer, a really legal killer
She does it because it's her game
Her marriage didn't last and motherhood left too much free time
All those victims piling up and now her vengeance is sublime
Sharon doesn't need a man, no time for romance in her life
One murder leads to more and it's neverending strife
Chorus: Does Sharon have a reason for the life she's leading?
Is it career, overwhelming passion or frenzied feeding?
Will she ever get caught, can she possibly be stopped?
When she gets to the pearly gates, will the charges all be dropped?
Chorus

TRY AGAIN Back To Top
When my friend lay dying
I tell you and I'm not lying
I wonder whether I can stand it
I want the judges to remand it
So I can try again, so I can try again
Where was I when I was there
Where am I now that I am here
As the decades fly and separate
They come together and lie straight
Straight together, straight together
Trembling in the hospice parking lot
Not knowing the details of this plot
Inside my friend looked like a wax doll
And I wish I had given her a call
When she could still talk, when she could still talk
Nothing left to do but wait it out
If it would do any good I'd scream and shout
This pass through the veil of forevermore
Is but one of millions to explore
Who knows when I'll try again, who knows when I'll try again
